Presentation of the 2018 EAHP Medicines Shortages report

Medicines Shortages are a major European-wide issue that threatens the delivery of best care to patients. On Wednesday 7 November the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP) will present the results of its second pan-European survey which sheds further light on the issue of medicines shortages in the hospital sector. The launch event will be held at 10.30 a.m. at the Press Club Brussels Europe (Rue Froissart 95, 1000 Brussels).


The report that will be presented by EAHP Vice President Aida Batista covers the status of medicines shortages, its consequences on hospital pharmacy daily practice and its impact on patient care among the main issues. The results and the implications for patients and healthcare professionals will be discussed by:


  • Dr Helena Jenzer, Chief Pharmacist at the University Hospital of Psychiatry Zurich
  • Luc Matthysen, volunteer at Eurordis, member of Eurordis's Drug Information, Transparency and Access task force and member of HTAP Belgium, the Belgium association for pulmonary hypertension and of PHA Europe
  • Dr Mina Gaga, President of the European Respiratory Society and Medical Director at the Athens Chest Hospital
