GREEN HYDROGEN: ENABLER FOR THE LOW CARBON ECONOMY

Energy, Environment and Climate
Date: Tuesday, 13 November 2018 14:00 - 16:30

Venue: The Representation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt to the European Union

The Representation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt to the European Union and the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Science and Digitalisation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt together with HYPOS e.V. and the Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS cordially invite you to an event entitled:

Green Hydrogen: enabler for the low carbon economy and opportunity for the structural change – innovative solutions from Saxony-Anhalt

from 2 pm to 4.30 pm on 13 November 2018

at the Representation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt to the EU,

Boulevard Saint Michel 80, 1040 Brussels

Innovative solutions regarding the production, storage and uses of green hydrogen should help contribute to an economically successful structural transformation. Join stakeholders from the fields of politics, business and science as they discuss how they will be affected by this important issue for the future. They will be highlighting the opportunities and challenges presented by hydrogen innovations for the European regions, particularly in the context of the energy transition. The area around the central German ‘chemical triangle’, with its high demand for hydrogen, is perfectly suited for the implementation of a green hydrogen economy. Saxony-Anhalt has a high potential for innovation in many respects; it is home to a 150 km hydrogen pipeline – the second longest in Germany – as well as salt caverns which could be used for the large-scale storage of hydrogen. The theme of the event is integral to the current negotiations on the Multiannual Financial Framework post-2020. This is expected to outline initial funding opportunities for the hydrogen sector, for instance in the new research framework programme known as ‘Horizon Europe’.
