Cross-border family disputes: safeguarding children’s rights (Hearing)

Institutional and Political Issues
Date: Monday, 19 November 2018 15:00

Venue: Brussels- European Parliament, ASP 3E2

On the 19 November, the JURI Committee with Elisabeth Morin-Chartier MEP and EP Coordinator on Children’s Rights will host a public hearing on safeguarding the rights of the child in cross-border family disputes. The event is organised in the context of the work of the Coordinator in cross-border parental child abduction and family disputes. A panel of leading experts will discuss the current legal state of play, best practices in ensuring the right of the child to be heard in legal proceedings and the role of mediation in cross border family cases. They will provide opinions on the future actions required to ensure the promotion and protection of the rights of the child in such situations. Members will have an opportunity to join in the discussion during the hearing.
