Making 5G and IoT licensing understandable for beginners

IPR - INtellectual Property Rights
Date: Thursday, 13 December 2018 08:00 - 09:30

Venue: The Library Ambiorix  |  City: Brussels

5G and the IoT are estimated to offer $12.3 trillion of economic value by 2035. To ensure European businesses capture these benefits they need to understand the wireless technology licensing environment.

As both developers and implementers of wireless technology standards we want to help new sectors replicate the global success that the 4G wireless technology standard brought to the smartphone market. This is why we came together under a CEN-CENELEC Workshop Agreement (CWA) to draft:
Principles and guidance for licensing standard essential patents in 5G and the IoT, including the industrial internet’.

We need your feedback to make our licensing document even better!
The more high-quality feedback we get on this draft, the more helpful we can make it. Over breakfast we would like to introduce and gather feedback on our draft during its newly extended public comment period (ending on Thursday, 31 December).

N.B. If you cannot attend the event, we encourage you to find out more and feedback on the draft using our
 ‘easy feedback tool’.
