Civil Society Under Russia’s Threat: Building Resilience in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova

Institutional and Political Issues
Date: Wednesday, 12 December 2018 15:00 - 18:00

Venue: European Endowment for Democracy

Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova are at the front line of a heated battle for their own future. They are highly exposed to various threats emanating from Russia, which deploys a set of tools aimed at weakening their sovereignty.

But state cohesion and stability in Eastern Europe are key to a wider European security. Building societal and institutional resilience to Russia’s negative influence in the three countries represents a potentially viable strategy to counter Russian interference. In this context, civil society has an important role to play in building social cohesion and in insulating the three countries against Russian influence. #EUevents
