Engagement with Nuclear Energy and Society: past, present and future

Energy, Environment and Climate
Date: Thursday, 07 February 2019 10:30 - 16:30

Venue: OPERA - Office for the Promotion of European Research Activities.

The History of Nuclear Energy and Society (HoNESt) project would like to invite you to take part in a one-day workshop to share and discuss our research findings on the past, present and future of nuclear energy in society. This event will involve stakeholders from industry, associations, politics, research and civil society. We believe that your expertise and interest in this topic will make you a valuable contributor.

Since September 2015, HoNESt project members have been researching the historical and societal dimensions of nuclear energy in Europe. Our goal has been to draw lessons on how best to resolve societal conflicts about nuclear power. To this end, HoNESt has combined broad-based historical research on 20 countries with rigorous social-scientific analysis while engaging with relevant stakeholders ranging from industry to civil society. For more information please consult www.honest2020.eu. This workshop will present the project’s findings.

The event will involve four components:

- Learnings from the Historical Experience of Nuclear Energy and Society across 20 countries

- New insights on Public Perceptions on Nuclear Energy

- New Insights on Public Engagement with Nuclear Energy

- Insights on the Importance of Interdisciplinary Research on Energy and Society and Recommendations for the Future

Attendance of the event is free, and coffee and lunch will be provided.
