Sport Women in the City - challenges and good practices

Civil Society
Date: Tuesday, 18 June 2019 14:45 - 18:00

Venue: 26 Rue d'Edimbourg, Ixelles

Why do women practice less oudoor sport activities than men? How to remove the feelings of unsafety experienced by many women when it comes to play sport in the public spaces? Which initiatives are trying to tackle these challenges?

In the framework of Eu-funded project SWUP, municipalities, sport associations and academics from all over Europe will meet to exchange their best practices. Baby-sitting services, gender-neutral urban equipment and raising-awareness walks are only some of the initiatives that will be explores. The event will also be the occasion to present the publications that have been produced on the topic in the framework of SWUP project.

At the end of the event, a walk in the street of Brussels will bring those participants that registered for it at the discovery of the often-neglected influence that women had in the story and architecture of the Belgian capital.
