Venue: Contact Organizer

Digital technologies providing for online privacy and security have contributed to create trust among users. However, those technologies can also be misused.

Encryption has been at the center of a debate on the interplay between online security and the notion of national security. The recent struggle between FBI and Apple have shown that there are still many open questions.

  • Is there a solution that allows for a sensible and workable balance between individual rights and protection of citizens security?
  • Which role can be played by the development of a cooperation between the industry, the research community and law enforcement?
  • How should it be framed?

In this online conference, jointly organized by CEPS and Columbia Institute for Tele-Information at Columbia University, experts from Europe and the US will provide policy analysis and recommendations.

Participation in this event is exceptionally free of charge. A light cocktail will be served after the event.
