Venue
European Parliament (A3G-2) - Wiertzstraat 60 Altiero Spinelli A3G-2 1000 Brussels Belgium

EUROCITIES is organising a political debate hosted by MEP Maria João Rodrigues and European Commission Director for Social Affairs Katarina Ivanković Knežević on the theme: ‘From principle to action: How to implement the European Pillar of Social Rights at local level’. The event will take place on 21 February from 10.00 to 12.30 at the European Parliament (A3G-2).

The event will mark the launch of the EUROCITIES initiative ‘Inclusive Cities for All: Social Rights in My City’. Mayors and deputy mayors will present their pledges to act on the principles of the European Pillar of Social Rights through dedicated investments for city measures. We will also present evidence from a recent EUROCITIES survey on the implementation of the Pillar at local level and showcase some innovative city measures in line with the Pillar’s principles.

The event will trigger a political dialogue between city mayors and deputy mayors with MEPs and EU officials on how to further support the implementation of the European Pillar of Social Rights at local level. We will discuss opportunities for better synergy between local, national and EU-level policy-makers and with civil society on how to ensure equal opportunities with active support to employment for all people, including migrants and refugees, and how to support affordable housing in cities. The outcomes of the debates will feed into the EUROCITIES recommendations for the future of a social Europe.

We warmly invite you to join the event and engage in the dialogue with city representatives and MEPs!

To attend, please register before 1 February.
