Dear All,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us for our Annual Alumni Meeting. Once again we have organised a Walking Dinner at Muntpunt Grand Café with a drinks reception, and a keynote address.

Contradicting prior predictions, recent events have proven that the "end of history" may be a bit further off than some would hope. Internal tensions and nationalistic tendencies have again arisen in western liberal nations, causing some to observe the rise of so-called "illiberal democracy". The former developing world already challenges the west in trade, and grows its influence in other areas as well. Meanwhile, climate change and political instability have triggered dramatic population movements and forced us to consider whether existing approaches are fit for purpose. War Studies and International Relations departments in Universities across the world, and especially at King's College London, have plenty of new issues to study, and King's College London Alumni in Belgium would like to invite you to take part in that wider dialogue.

To that end, this year we are especially pleased to welcome guests of honour John Manza (NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations) and alumni Major General Tim Bevis CBE (Director Operations and Planning Division, International Military Staff, NATO HQ). We're also pleased to have Professor David Betz of the KCL War Studies department coming from London to introduce our guest speakers.

And if that's not reason enough to come and join us, you'll also be delighted by our dining options this year, with Italian Antipasti (charcuterie and Italian cheese, vitello tonnato, beef carpaccio, grilled vegetable skewers, salmon tartare, sweet and savory pie, arancini, pizzette), Rosemary chicken with grilled vegetables, Sea bream filet with cherry tomatoes and garlic, and fresh and tasty rice paper rolls that offer a fusion of flavors from Asia and tastes of home. For dessert, Raspberry Pana Cotta and an assortment of sweet amuses-bouches. And of course, each guest will receive a complementary welcome drink.

We would like to give thanks to the KCL Centre for European Law, the Alumni Office, and the War Studies Department for their support.

Guest tickets are available and you are encouraged to bring a partner, family, friend or significant other.

We would really love to see everyone there to support us and each other in the mission of building a stronger Alumni community in Belgium.
