Swiss Science Briefing: Climate Change

Energy, Environment and Climate
Date: Tuesday, 04 September 2018 17:30 - 19:30

Venue: Mission of Switzerland to the European Union  |  City: Elsene

Where do we stand globally in climate research?

SwissCore, the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities and the Mission of Switzerland to the European Union (EU) would like to invite you to a Swiss Science Briefing on “Climate change: What does Europe need to solve this global challenge?”.

Where do we stand globally in climate research? Is Europe well equipped to tackle the global challenge of climate change? Is Horizon Europe designed the right way to tackle this challenge? What type of technologies does Europe need to develop to fight climate change? What ‘mission’ should R&I stakeholders gather around? Does Europe actually need more research on climate or only political action?

Two world leading climate scientists, Thomas Stocker (University of Bern) and Lučka Kajfež Bogataj (University of Ljubljana) and two key European policy makers, Patrick Child (DG Research and Innovation) and Bas Eickhout (European Parliament) will reflect on these questions and elaborate on what Europe needs to solve the global challenge of climate change.

You will find the detailed programme of the event here. You can register here until 28 August.
