The Six City Strategy is hosting an event during the European Week of Regions and Cities and would like to welcome you to join the discussion about cities and their significance in the future of Europe.

6Aika, The Six City Strategy, is a shared sustainable urban development strategy of the six biggest cities in Finland: Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Turku and Oulu. Together with businesses, universities, and citizens they have developed their cities into innovation platforms where businesses thrive and better services are created. 

The discussion will be led by i.a. Dr. Jan Olbrycht (MEP Vice-Chair in WG Budget and Structural Policies, President of the Urban Intergroup), Anna-Lisa Boni (Secretary General, EUROCITIES), and Markku Markkula (First Vice-President of the European Committee of the Regions).

The Six City Strategy – Open and Smart Services, runs between 2014 and 2020 with the aim of creating new know-how, business and jobs in Finland. It is part of Finland’s structural fund programme for sustainable growth and jobs 2014–2020. It is funded by European Regional Development Fund, European Social Fund, the Finnish Government and the participating cities. Helsinki Uusimaa Regional Council is the authority responsible for ERDF funding and Häme ELY Centre authority responsible for ESF funding.
