Together with the Permanent Representation of Netherlands to the EU and the Permanent Representation of Estonia to the EU (under the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union), International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR) is organizing the high-level conference “Civil Society in Cyber Space – Opportunities, Threats and Recommendations for EU’s External Action” in Brussels on 5 September 2017. The main objective of this event is to discuss how the EU and its member states can improve external actions to support civil society in taking advantage of the Internet and counter threats in countries where online space is closing. The keynote speakers are Mariejte Schaake, Member of European Parliament and David Kaye, UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression. Among the panelists is well-known blogger and journalist Arzu Geybulla, who will speak about civil society in cyber space in Azerbaijan.
