Who is this workshop for?

Anyone who is involved in designing, implementing or monitoring of the RDPs under the CAP 2014- 2020 (or starting to think about the next one) and is interested in making the most effective use of financial and other resources to protect and conserve biodiversity and improve delivery of the multiple ecosystem services that it underpins. Organized by the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) as part of technical support for the European Commission to implement the Targets 2 and 3 of the EU Biodiversity Strategy, the workshop will also to contribute towards the implementation of the EU Action Plan for nature, people and the economy.

What will the workshop cover?

In 2014 the European Commission published the Common Framework for Biodiversity-Proofing of the EU Budget accompanied by the Guidance for Common Agricultural Policy funds. This interactive workshop aims to showcase the use of the guidance, through concrete examples and illustrations of best practices. The focus will be on demonstrating how to make the most efficient and cost-effective use of RDP resources in this regard, and thereby achieve long lasting benefits for biodiversity and the environment as a whole, including climate change adaptation and mitigation (EAFRD Priorities 4 and 5e).

Topics that will be covered include:  How can RDP measures address more effectively multiple environmental objectives How to maximize synergies between them?  Targeting for ecosystem services, and considering the benefits of enhancing existing green infrastructure.  Recognising opportunities and overcoming barriers to more environmentally cost-effective delivery.

The workshop offers participants a chance to share experiences, discuss examples from current RDPs and explore opportunities for the future.

This workshop is by invitation only, please register by 19 September 2017 via sending an email to Clunie Keenleyside (This email address is being protected from spambots.
