Date: Tuesday, 07 November 2017 09:45 - 16:00

Venue: AEBIOM Office, Brussels  |  City: Brussel, Belgium

Wood chips account for at least 22% of the total solid biomass consumption in EU, however still very little is known about the quality of this solid biofuel. Starting from this point, AEBIOM launched a project to explore the possibility to implement a quality certification scheme for wood chips. The necessity for such a certification stems from four main facts:1. Lack of quality harmonisation in the wood chips production, despite the presence of a dedicated international standard (ISO 17225-4);
2. Ambiguous classification and definitions;
3. The presence of a consistent share of low-quality wood chips on the market;
4. Lack of a common European system for the assessment of the quality of wood chips.In this context, the European Biomass Association would like to discuss the wood chips market and the quality challenges with all interested European stakeholders.We are therefore delighted to invite you to our Wood Chips Quality Workshop taking place on Tuesday the 7th November in Brussels.This is a great opportunity to share your view and personal experience in the wood chips sector with AEBIOM and other international stakeholders . This workshop is just the first step of a long term project, aiming at creating a network that will play an active role in the development of the future scheme.
