Tackling Fake News About the EU

Communication and Media
Date: Tuesday, 30 January 2018 09:00 - 16:00

Venue: Rue Philippe-le-Bon  |  City: Bruxelles, Belgium

Do you sometimes feel that people live in different factual universes, making it difficult to hold a rational debate about politics and the EU?

Are you worried about fake news campaigns repeatedly interfering into democratic elections in the EU and beyond?

Do you want to take active steps to counter malicious effects of disinformation?

Then join our interactive workshop Tackling Fake News about the EU on the 30th of January 2018 at the Commission's Philippe le Bon building!

At the kick of of the event, you can discuss the challenge of fake news with the Chief Spokesperson of the European Commission and Deputy General of DG COMM Margaritis Schinas, the European Parliament’s digital expert Marietje Schaake MEP and Jakub Kalensky, member of the East Strat Com team of the External Action Service.

Their speeches will be followed by several rounds of interactive sessions where we will firstly discuss the challenge fake news pose to the EU and then try to find concrete responses to it.
