Can Europe shield itself from Asia as a distinct world?

Trade
Date: Wednesday, 02 May 2018 11:45 - 13:00

Venue: ECIPE Office, Avenue des Arts 40, 6th floor, 1040 Brussels

Europe and Asia are increasingly interlinked thanks to improved connectivity (by both tangible and intangible means) with increased economic and social interactions. Their spheres of influence overlap – and Europe finds itself drawn into the Eurasian century, whether it wants or not.

- Given the new interlinkages, where are the points of friction: On technology, geopolitics and economic issues?

- Are Europe's internal politics ready and its policies fit for the Eurasian era?

- Can Europe continue to stand for its own distinct set of values?

Please join a conversation with MEP Marietje Schaake, a leading liberal voice on Europe’s foreign engagement; Bruno Maçaes, the author of the bestseller “The Dawn of Eurasia”. The talk is led Fredrik Erixon, director and co-founder of ECIPE.

A light snack will be served after the event.
