Alliance and WINGS present Brussels Breakfast Club – Heads Together to Lift up Philanthropy

Civil Society
Date: Tuesday, 29 May 2018 08:45 - 11:00

Venue: Square – Brussels Meeting Centre  |  City: Brussel, Belgium

Taking advantage of the EFC’s Annual General Conference, Alliance and global philanthropy infrastructure network WINGS present a new special feature on ‘Philanthropy’s developers’.

What is the contribution of philanthropy’s infrastructure to the development of the field? There are many good reasons to invest in philanthropy infrastructure and all of them point to the need for concerted thought and action. Creating and maintaining a robust ecosystem of support to philanthropy isn’t a problem to be solved. It’s a process essential to nurturing and sustaining a strong philanthropic sector and a vibrant civil society. So why have funders been traditionally so reticent to invest in its development? Could this be about to change?

Speakers include:

Benjamin Bellegy – Executive director, WINGS
Filiz Bikmen, Founding director, Esas Sosyal
Maria Chertok – Executive director, CAF Russia
Charles Keidan – Editor, Alliance magazine (chair)
Questions addressed include:

What is philanthropy infrastructure?
Who are philanthropy’s developers and what to they do?
What is needed to improve the efficiency and sustainability of this support ecosystem in Europe and beyond?
Ideal for:

Philanthropists
Foundation directors and professionals
Philanthropy practitioners and advisors
Academic researchers on philanthropy
Development aid agencies
Think tanks
Specialist media
