Tackling Non-Communicable Diseases: EU leadership in thrombosis and haemostasis research

Health
Date: Thursday, 03 May 2018 14:00 - 16:00

Venue: European Parliament, Room JAN 6Q1  |  City: Bruxelles, Belgium

The World Health Assembly has set the ambitious goal to reduce premature deaths from non-communicable diseases by 25 percent by 2025, and the EU has an opportunity to lead the world in achieving this ; Thrombosis, also known as blood clots, is a significant cause of these premature deaths in people of all ages, races, ethnicities, and of both sexes, with 1 in 4 people dying of conditions caused by thrombosis worldwide. The European Union can demonstrate leadership in tackling this condition by formulating a forward-looking research agenda in the Framework Programme 9 that addresses the effects of non-communicable diseases in the European Union and beyond.

We are looking forward to meeting you at our event for an interactive discussion with stakeholders about how the EU can best support thrombosis and haemostasis research.

Confirmed speakers:

MEP Aldo Patriciello

Dr Karim Berkouk, Acting Head of Non-communicable diseases and the challenge of healthy ageing Unit, DG RTD

Dr Anna Falanga, Chair, European Thrombosis and Haemostasis Alliance

Dr Harry Büller, Professor of Medicine, Department of Vascular Medicine Academic Medical Center, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
